INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES REGARDING RECEPTIONIST POSITION
 
Parkside Veterinary Group is dedicated to animal care and to this end this position requires a new team member who must be prepared to work hard and be flexible enough to work when required – often with changes at short notice.  They must be positive, with proven excellent customer service skills, have the ability to learn quickly, act on their own initiative when required.  Following strict guidelines relating to health and safety, customer care and ensure adherence to follow all practice policies and procedures including policies relating to the information we give out to clients regarding their pets.
This is a challenging role which pushes multi-tasking to the edge.  It is physically, emotionally and mentally challenging, with an expectation that you will remain upbeat and positive at all times.   It is imperative that you are both compassionate and caring in your demeanour.
A willingness to learn and to be happy to help out in any given situation as part of a dedicated team member is crucial.  Excellent telephone communication skills are essential.
Although this job is demanding it is also a very rewarding job, where you will see, first hand, the care and dedication given to the animals from our professional team.

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
RECEPTIONIST
 
To provide the highest standard of service at any of the Parkside Surgeries they are required to work in.
Show a willingness to work as a member of the reception team and liaise with fellow receptionists, head receptionist, veterinary surgeons, partners and nursing team.
Normal Hours of work (full-time) = 39 hours – covering various shift patterns including evening and Saturday work as in the following:
1 x 7.00 pm finish
1 x half day
1 x 5.30pm finish
2 x 5.00pm finishes
1 in 4 or 5 Saturday mornings
(staff must be flexible and sickness cover and holiday cover is mandatory).
Full time holiday entitlement is 4 weeks plus 9 days.  Part time staff will receive a pro rata of this.
 

THE ROLE/JOB
 
Look after the clients’ interests from arrival to departure.  Arrange appointments, book operations, take messages, repeat prescription requests, food orders and answer general enquiries along with general office duties.
Ensure Puppy & Kitten Packs are made up.
Ensure waiting area and consult rooms are clean during the working day.
Ensure daily tasks are carried out i.e. cleaning of dispensary and stock shelves, sympathy cards, vaccination cards, post operative statements and post operative care sheets.
Deal with client payments and client queries.
Ensure reception area, waiting room, consulting rooms, food store, dispensary are kept clean and tidy at all times.
Keep shop display front of house stocked and notice boards updated with relevant offers.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head Receptionist, Practice Manager and or Director.
Work may involve travelling to other surgeries so the successful applicant must have their own transport and able to drive.
